Spotlight on Rapper One80

Rapper One80 is one of Houston’s upcoming artists on the Hip Hop scene. Teren Avery took on his stage name after serving close to 18 years in prison. One80 has already caught the attention of LeAnn Rimes and Dr. Dre.
At the age of 9, One80 suffered from child abuse at the hands of his stepfather. The abuse led to One80 ran away from home. Running away, Avery stole a car, hustled and in August of 2003, set fire to an abandoned house. Arson earned him 18 years in prison. Avery served most of it in TDCJ’s Estelle Unit in Huntsville at the age of 17.
While serving his sentence, Avery earned the nickname One80. Then, he picked up plastic spoons and began making beats. Avery’s beats covered by rap lyrics were recorded in prison. Avery sent his cousin his music, which soon became a waiting game for Avery to be released from prison. Avery learned important life lessons such as philosophy, chess and encouraged him to fly straight once he made parole.
After Avery served most of his sentence, within 3 months Avery produced 17 minute a documentary of his life that covers his start in music. Soon afterwards Avery released his music and started selling his music on Amazon.
Not too long afterwards LeAnn Rimes heard his music and invited him to perform in with her at Gruene Hall in Austin.
“For me to be a rapper and be able to perform there, I’ve never seen that many cowboy hats in my life,” Avery said. “You know what, and for them to accept me, this is why I feel like music is so beautiful.”
Dr. Dre called him via FaceTime to talk business, too.
“I was like man, you are Dr. Dre,” Avery said. “This is crazy. This is beyond a dream come true.”
His single, “Miles Away”, has been well received and confirms his start as a artist.

True’ly Young is is a Hispanic-American Reggae artist better known for the hit song "By Your Side" with millions of plays on Youtube and other platforms. He’s also a Bachata, Dancehall singer, Songwriter and Rapper.

When did the label become fully functional?

2019 is the year of releases. Business is good, partnerships are in place and we project a bright future for Square Biz Records.

When did you get in involved in the music industry?

I, 7 SOLO, got involved with music at a young age being involved with the school choir from 5th grade through 12th grade. professionally i have been recording for over 25 years.

When did music become a priority to you ?

music became a priority around 1995

What inspires you to write music?

i am inspired daily to write, even if the time isn't there to make the compositions. every time i think about the run around i have gotten from "industry" people, i am convinced that running my own label, SQUARE BIZ, is the best way to go.

What are some of your mentors when it comes to music?

i respect from the old school as an artist Rakim for his lyrical content and his lessons and also KRS ONE for the energy and science dropping. new school i respect WIZ KHALIFAH for his business savvy and he puts out great records.

Being a indie label what do you prefer when it comes to get music out to the masses?

as a label, we prefer the streams because of the nature of our industry in 2019. we want the physical unit sales also but it will most likely be at shows, or other live events.

When is your first single release from your label?

SQUARE BIZ is releasing MINUS 25 JAN 31 2019. (song and video) The artist is 7 SOLO and its produced by SWITCH. IT IS A COLLABORATION of two countries LAGOS NIGERIA and USA. TRAP type beat with lyrical delivery. we will be releasing every month in 2019.

What makes Square Biz Records different?

we are increasing our capabilities in our N HOUSE MUSIC studio to be able to facilitate all genres of music and all types of artists. the label actively seeks out new talent.

Are there any tours in the near future?

we plan to tour with MINUS 25 in NIGERIA and AMERICA. 7 SOLO is available for performances as soon as spring 2019

What do you do on your free time?

when not attending to the many chores of independent label running, i enjoy my retirement from the NAVY. I play chess, cook, and watch sports

Mostly unsolved murders & and robbing goes on , my dad was never around , leaving my mama to struggle every moment of my childhood which made me leave home and get in the streets . I was arrested numerous times as a juvenile in and out of trouble couldn’t stay in school , it was nobody to support me I had to get money . I started rappin at the age of 8 , found out I could sing at 12 but I never took music serious I would play around but I never took it serious , until I made a diss song about this nigga who was suppose to be my homeboy but he stole from me . I named it “fuck it” , the song started pickin up so much heat and everybody was fuckin with it so I kept going to by this time I was still in the streets but working too . I know it might sound crazy but I got a job at the Jail doing food service . I ended up running into my current manager ( Sean of absolute ent) brother “Tom Tom” and I was rapping for him one day then he linked me with Sean immediately. I’ll never forget he told me “ all you gotta do is stay out of trouble and rap , i got you” & We’ve been rocking ever since , I know for a fact we’re going to go far with this company and be very successful. I plan to come back to my city and change life’s , give these jits the opportunity Sean gave me . And with that being said , I feel there is nothing that can hold us back.

Mr. Rhino G! Who are you? I mean what makes you rise and shine daily?

I’m a father, best friend, business owner and an artist. Most importantly I'm a man.  I’m grateful for every daylight I get to see.  For that I give thanks. That's why I hustle from sun-up to sun-down.

Ok, Well let’s not discuss our private lives. How did you come to be known as Rhino G? I'm assuming that’s your stage name, correct?

Yes! Rhino G is my stage name. As a human being everyone has an animal side to them. I am a Rhino; I believe that the rhinoceros and i have the same personality.

Did you attend any art schools growing up? Tell me your musical background?

No, I went to regular schools. I was just born with my talent and the love for music. My father also had the love and talent for music but he didn't pursue it.

Musically, what are your biggest influences and who are your favorite musicians. You seem like a Lil Boosie fan?

I am a big Lil Boosie fan. I grew up in the Tupac and Biggie era. Along with "No Limit Records" and "Cash Money" days. So it's fair to say i’m a fan of their music too. My musical  influences are people like Akon, Rick Ross, TI, Tupac and LiL Wayne.

Have you done any collaborations with any artist?

Yes I have worked with Nino brown, Lynn Tate, Rod Maine, and a lot of big haitian artist.

Of course every artist would love to perform at the BET Awards, but besides that; What would be your dream stage in which to perform?  

Besides BET and MTV. I would have to say my final destination would be the Oscar awards.

How do you separate yourself from other artists?

I don't know! Because I really don't know what other artist do personally. I just try to focus on Rhino G and my goals at all times.

What personal advice would you give to someone wanting to pursue their dreams as an artist?

Know what you want and go after it. Never give up no matter what.

What is the importance of the connections you make?

I am grateful for everyone i meet in life good or bad. I believe every situation has a learning lesson.

Do you have a certain team that helps you get things done in your career?

Yes, Aidem Media Group is playing a big role in my career right now and Eone my distribution company.
