The SCM Awards is an annual awards ceremony that recognizes the achievements of underground, independent and major Hip-Hop and R&B Artists, deejays, music producers, video producers, record labels, business owners, models, graphic designers, dancers, stylists, and more.

 

 

Our purpose is to give them exposure, allowing them the chance to be recognized for their accomplishments throughout the previous year while also allowing them the opportunity to network and build relationships with others in their field. We want to show appreciation for the hard work and dedication they put forth, for the sacrifices they make to enhance their crafts, their skills and talents and for taking the time to invest in themselves.

@DJMsHypnotique Takes Over Wild'N Out DJ Booth

Cool Running’s DJs very own, DJ Ms. Hypnotique, Palm Tree Entertainment, SODMG and Team SCM affiliate, made her live DJ debut on Wild’ N Out.

This mixtress not only wow’d the audience with her inner and outer beauty, but she did a great DJ set while Soulja Boy, the hottest rapper in the game, performed live. We got some insight from her to see what the experience was like.

“Aside from all the hype and the crazy energy, being at the live taping of the hip-hop improv show “Wild ‘N Out” isn’t much different from watching the show itself. I got a chance to be on set with some amazing, truly funny people. My favorite part, of course, was when I actually got to DJ, and the guest that I DJ’d for was none other than my brother, Soulja Boy @souljaboy. 

Wild ’N Out is exactly just that… Wild! If you’ve ever seen the show, you know it’s hilarious and when you add that Soulja spin on it, it’s even more amazing since it was him who “started” this wave. There wasn’t a seat within the circular set that was free from the view of cameras and the audience was rarely quiet. The cast was outstanding and even funnier in person. Even when the show wasn’t filming, laughter and cheers filled the room as the cast poked fun at the audience and encouraged dance competitions. 

I got the chance to meet Nick Cannon in person and was shocked that he was more down-to-earth than I thought he would be since a lot of celebrities act one way with the fans and act another way on television. He was very humble and welcoming and didn’t mind taking pictures with the guests. What was most interesting is that he was surprised to see a female DJ on the set behind the turntables. Once I started, he looked to the DJ booth and had to do a double take and wore an amusingly shocked expression on his face as he pointed toward the booth. THAT was THE BEST moment for me. I was proud of all the work that had been done to get me to that point and very proud of my team: my manager Jay Shields, CEO and Team SCM, my PTE family and all those who have helped me along the way. 

I enjoyed every moment of this experience and didn’t want to leave and it is a part of my career that I’ll never forget. Fortunately for you, you’ll get a chance to see some pics and videos this week starting with the debate of Season 13 and an all new episode!

BTF aka BEHINDTHEFRAMES was born in New York and raised in Florida. During his earlier years, he fell in love with Rap. With a strong sense of self and pride, his presence gives a statement that you don't have to pretend to be something you're not to be a Rapper. Giving full respect and appreciation to all legends, for his storytelling flow is influenced from a wide range of Rap/HipHop classics; BTF strives to honor the genre by maintaining the genuine essence of it. In hopes of earning the respect from not only the game, but the artists of generations before. Being a private school student, he was surrounded by doubt; even within himself he began to question "How can I make this happen?". He was well aware of the obvious factors that were going to be against him. Studying the art form, he began to gain the drive to prove himself. Throughout high school he released tracks that started getting attention as he paved his own way. Looking up to other Rappers, BTF saw what being a transcendingartist required. Keeping it honest while inspiring others to chase their dreams no matter the odds, he began to work. After recording at UBP Studios in Plantation, FL and releasing two mixtapes (BTF & BTF2), he started working under Ramont Green of Royalty & Respect management. In December of 2016, BTF earned Indie Artist Of The Week on HipHopzilla.com for his song "Gettin To It".

we are talking from HIGHLAND SPRINGS VA

When did the label become fully functional?

2019 is the year of releases. Business is good, partnerships are in place and we project a bright future for Square Biz Records.

When did you get in involved in the music industry?

I, 7 SOLO, got involved with music at a young age being involved with the school choir from 5th grade through 12th grade. professionally i have been recording for over 25 years.

When did music become a priority to you ?

music became a priority around 1995

What inspires you to write music?

i am inspired daily to write, even if the time isn't there to make the compositions. every time i think about the run around i have gotten from "industry" people, i am convinced that running my own label, SQUARE BIZ, is the best way to go.

What are some of your mentors when it comes to music?

i respect from the old school as an artist Rakim for his lyrical content and his lessons and also KRS ONE for the energy and science dropping. new school i respect WIZ KHALIFAH for his business savvy and he puts out great records.

Being a indie label what do you prefer when it comes to get music out to the masses?

as a label, we prefer the streams because of the nature of our industry in 2019. we want the physical unit sales also but it will most likely be at shows, or other live events.

When is your first single release from your label?

SQUARE BIZ is releasing MINUS 25 JAN 31 2019. (song and video) The artist is 7 SOLO and its produced by SWITCH. IT IS A COLLABORATION of two countries LAGOS NIGERIA and USA. TRAP type beat with lyrical delivery. we will be releasing every month in 2019.

What makes Square Biz Records different?

we are increasing our capabilities in our N HOUSE MUSIC studio to be able to facilitate all genres of music and all types of artists. the label actively seeks out new talent.

Are there any tours in the near future?

we plan to tour with MINUS 25 in NIGERIA and AMERICA. 7 SOLO is available for performances as soon as spring 2019

What do you do on your free time?

when not attending to the many chores of independent label running, i enjoy my retirement from the NAVY. I play chess, cook, and watch sports

Andre Writer - My Slide (Single + Video)

Music has been with Andre Writer since his the days of his youth as he recorded his first single at the very young age of 5 called “Money Talks But It Don’t Walk”. The young musical prodeje’ continued towards his path by signing with Motown at the age of 14 as part of a musical act called “4U”. The San Fernando Valley, California native took an interest in songwriting and producing and in addition to making music for himself, he began helping local acts record their own demo’s. Education called and Andre put his music career on hold in order to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communications. Once he received his degree, Andre re embarked on his musical aspirations and soon found himself in the studio with the likes of Devante Swing, Naturi Naughton, Shorty Mack, and platinum recording artist Lil Zane – among many others. Andre’s music has also appeared on shows such as Kourtney & Khloe Take Miami, Bad Girls Club, and MTVʼs Real World: New Orleans. More recently, his singles “NMW” and “My Slide” have received tens of thousands of streams on Spotify all through independent and word of mouth measures. With the ability to produce, songwrite and sing, the sky's the limit for Andre Writer.

Known on the west coast as Litty Rik, is from just outside of Los Angeles, California. Showing much love and representing Arcadia, and the surrounding area of the San Gabriel Valley.
